CUBG Garden Design Course
Murray Edwards College Gardens
I have spent seven months training, practicing with the team.
I took some photos of the gardens and the works we have done and assembled a short presentation. Hope you enjoy it, birds song were recorded in the garden.
Spring Gardens
My last presentation/video for the Murray Edwards College Cambridge as I am moving on to a different college. I wish them all the best!
The 3½ Fence Garden
It all begins with an idea.
It is small. The 3½ Fence Garden as its name. Against horticultural principle, I have managed to pack in a big list of plants providing all year round interests.
It starts as a small patch of grass and extremely thin top soil sitting on compacted fundations of a building site, sitting on previously clay soil. It is surrounded by tall buildings blocking the sun, except, to the credit of our lovely architects, unless the deep of winter, each area of the garden get a few hours of sunlights.
One advantage of a small garden is the opportunity to look up close, any small area, be a mixed bed, rockery, pond, corner of a deep shade, there will always be some pleasant image to enjoy.
Chicken Garden Design
This was a course homework as part of my RHS Level 2 Diploma. A practice challenge to design a a new garden on a site where was used as a chicken run for the past years, hence the name of the garden.
The design was to have a set of beds distributed out as a shape of a plant providing all year round interests with wildlife friendly in mind.
Terrace Layout
This a first floor terrace, with three side enclosure, it more resumes a court yard. The challenge is the amount of sunlight and the strong pravalling wind. An area that has no water, no soil, and very little sun make it a fun challenge.
